When was the last time you actually took everything out of your bathroom cabinets or linen closet? These spaces are often small but work hard, so when clutter creeps in, they can quickly become chaotic 😵💫
With a few intentional steps, you can reclaim your space so it’s both functional and streamlined.
Step 1: Evaluate the Space
Before you start pulling things out, ask yourself:
👉🏼 What’s the purpose of this space?
Your answer will help you decide what belongs within that space and what doesn’t.
Step 2: Empty & Sort
Take everything out and give the space a good wipe-down for a fresh start 🧽
Now, group similar items together into categories, such as:
- Linens (by size)
- Towels
- Skincare
- Personal Care
- Hair tools
- Cleaning products
- Medicine
Step 3: Edit, Edit, Edit
This is the MOST important step… for each category, you want to decide if you are going to:
- KEEP what you use, need, or love
- TOSS expired products, empty bottles, and excess packaging
- DONATE anything in good condition that no longer serves you
- RELOCATE items that belong elsewhere
💡 Mindset Tips for Letting Go:
-
Don’t keep beauty products you didn’t like just because you spent money on them, you learned what works for you.. now let it go!
-
It’s okay to donate or discard items you received as a gift, but don’t use.
-
Let go of free samples… I guarantee they will just continue to collect dust if you hold on to them 😏
Step 4: Contain & Label
When it comes to organizing the items back into your space, you are going to want to use bins to help contain your items and add labels to ensure everyone can find what they need!
- Use bins, baskets, or drawer organizers for small items
- Use clear bins if you want to see what you have, or opaque baskets for a uniform look
- Label everything so family members can easily find and put things back
Step 5: Maintain
Set a monthly reminder to do a quick declutter by quickly going through each bin to ensure items are in their correct space and if they are still serving your needs.
🛁 Bathroom Organizing Tips
-
Use stackable bins to maximize vertical space under sinks
-
Add pull-out drawers or lazy susans for easy access to hard-to-reach areas
-
Store only daily-use items on countertops (use a small lazy susan to keep them tidy!)
-
Contain small items like bobby pins and hair ties with drawer organizers to keep everything neatly separated.
🧺 Linen Closet Organizing Tips
-
Use large baskets to store sheets if you struggle with folding neatly
-
Sort and group medicines by type in a divided lazy susan (check expiration dates!)
-
Create a bin for backstock supplies, and shop from it first before buying more!
